Hey everyone! So this is by far one of the funniest thing's I've ever done in my life. I'm beyond obsessed with RuPaul's Drag Race and when my cousin visited over spring break, I got her hooked on it. . We were going back and forth all week quoting the show so it was only fair that I make her a RuPaul cake for her upcoming birthday. It started off as a joke but then I was like no I HAVE to do it. I had no idea how to go about it then I remembered reading about a technique where you trace a drawing in buttercream, freeze it, then transfer it onto a cake. Here's an awesome
link with pictures and step by step instructions. I made Wilton's classic buttercream and dyed everything myself EXCEPT for the black, I used their ready made tubes. If you've ever tried to dye your own black frosting you know it literally tastes like ass [excuse my language but seriously, I have no other word for it, not that I've ever tasted ass]. Anyway I happened to stumble on this cartoony picture of Rupaul that was perfect for my project.
It was really very easy to do. My ONLY problem was that the buttercream was a little thicker than I think it should've been so it was hard to get rid of air bubbles. My biggest problem was that I didn't make enough blue frosting. This is a half sheet cake and my batch of frosting was for a two layer 9 inch cake but whatever.
This is the buttercream on the glass before I transfered it on to the cake. It was hard to get a picture because of the frost. It looks nothing like RuPaul but it's the thought that counts right?
Ahh, la piece de resistance! I honestly can't look at this cake without laughing.
TWINSIES!
